Taura Here Manawa means "The cord that binds me to your heart", and that alone says a lot to me. The reason we do babywearing, and for all the thing we do in our everyday living- THIS is what its all about. To connect and to be close to our children, to share love and joy - all the way from the first sign of pregnancy, and until they grow up to be responsible and deeply loved grown ups.
Koromiko is beautiful. It has a deep purple color, matched with rich black. One side is purple with black pattern, and the other side is black with purple pattern. This one is my favorite side.
The pattern is repeating it self, and its an pattern easy to love.
We received Koromiko a while ago, and the wrap arrived in loom state. After a wash and iron, it became more fluffy and airy. Still, I felt it was a bit stiff and had some more potensial with breaking in.
We sent it off for testing with 5 other mamas, and by the time it came back it had soften up a lot more. It was now much more easy to wrap with, and much more soft.
I would say this wrap is great for bigger babies and toddlers. Its thick and dense woven. It has a tiny bit of stretch and bounce, but not too much, so its great for those heavy and energetic monkey´s some of us know way too well. ;)
This wrap does not sag. It has the perfect amount of grip, and will stay in place the whole time you have your baby in it.
The only "negative" thing I can find is that this wrap demands a good wrapping job.
I am sometimes a sloppy wrapper, because I want things done quick so my toddler don´t loose his patient. This wrap is not very forgiving on sloppy wrapping-skills, but on the other hand this wrap is one of the easiest wraps to "re-do" your wrapping with.
Because of it´s thickness and amount of grip it will stay in place while you do whatever you need to do to fix your sloppy job, and you can just keep walking without even having to put your baby down. That is a big plus, because the worst nightmare of a energetic-toddler mom, is to put him down on his own feets, and then fetch him again with 4,6 meters of textile flying around you.
This is a wrap for all toddler-moms, and specially those who like dense and thick wraps, that will hug around you and your kid. Because of the amount of stretch and bounce, this wrap is very comfortable on your shoulders. Even when my boy is leaning to look closer, or dancing of joy on the back, its still no problems for my shoulders.
The wrap is of the wider side, and that is also perfect to make a good seat, and still cover the shoulders of your child. And what I experience with this wrap, is that a wide wrap like this, also give bigger pleats on your shoulder, that give an extra cloudy feeling.
Also, as you see, Koromiko will hold with only knot, and it will not be too big or overwhelming.
On these pictures we used Koromiko in a simple ruck for one hour. It was no problem at all.
We enjoyed a christmas-market, and we also enjoyed some food from a food-truck.
I was so happy that this wrap was an easy care- wrap, because I didn't even have to take my son down for eating. He actually ate his quesadilla with sour cream on my back, and I know that this wrap does not have a problem with being used for kids and all the mess that can come with it. Thats actually one reason in it self for everyone to have one easy-care wrap at all times.
Thank you Aroha Textiles, for letting us have the pleasure of testing this beautiful wrap here in Norway.
